Wittion-Le-Wear, Nestling on a South facing hillside above the River Wear, Witton-Le-Wear stands on the edge of the North Pennines just off the A68 between Darlington and Consett.

The historic village dates back to Anglo-Saxon times, indeed the village is steeped in history from the 12th Century Witton Tower to the Norman church triangular village green and the superb views across the river on the 15th- century Witton Castle.

With easy commuting to Tyneside, Durham, Darlington and Teeside, the village of some 500 people is now a community in its own right with its own Primary School, two pubs and the renowned Low Barns Nature Reserve right on its doorstep. Hamsterley Forest, with its pathways, cycleways, bridleways and numerous sporting and leisure activities, lies four miles to the West. The recently established Coast to Coast cycle route passes the village, whilst Bishop Auckland, with a full range of services, shops and amenities, lies four miles to the East. The MetroCentre is approximately 45 minutes, Durham and Tees Valley Airport is 30 minutes and Darlington train station is 20 minutes by car. The A1(M) is approximately 10 miles away.
