LONGHIRST TOWNHOUSE SHOWHOME OPENS

Longhirst Hall, Dere Street Homes

County Durham-based developers, Dere Street Homes, have the first showhome at their prestigious Longhirst Hall development, located just to the north of Morpeth and minutes away from the new link to A1(M).

Whilst the original hall was designed built by John Dobson as a grand country house for the Lawson family in 1828, the new homes are luxurious three bedroom townhouses converted from the hotel’s Conference Centre, a later addition to the Hall.

Passing through the hands of some of the area’s richest families, the Grade II listed Hall was eventually converted into a 77 bedroomed hotel, hugely popular as a wedding venue with a 250 person function room in addition to 23 conference rooms.

The three bedroom townhouse showhome features an expansive open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area with superb floor-to ceiling Bi-fold doors which open fully onto the individual rear gardens, allowing the indoor and outdoor areas to be truly combined. A separate family room, fully plumbed utility room and WC complete the ground floor with stairs leading to the first floor landing. The spacious master bedroom comes with full en-suite facilities and superb views over the rear gardens, whilst the front-facing bedrooms two and three share the large family bathroom.

Dere Street Homes’ development Sales Manager, Yvonne Wilson, commented, “These homes really do represent the ultimate in open plan luxury living! The opening weekend was a great success with over 100 visitors, many of whom had registered their interest when we first announced the development last year and, as a result, we are very confident of announcing our first sales very soon.”

The nine two storey townhouses are all of a similar design with prices for the first phase of three bedroom townhouses starting £460,000.

Yvonne Wilson, continued, “The first home to be released for sale here, a five bedroom detached home converted and totally refurbished from the former Decoro Spa was sold off plan to a private buyer and the interest we have been seeing over the past year in all the properties has been incredible. The main hall is a very opulent Georgian property which has been carefully restored to its former glory with a contemporary twist, whilst retaining the superb historic features and restoring the property to its original use planned by John Dobson almost 200 years ago.”
