New Phase of Five Bedroom Detached Family Homes at Longhirst

Detached Homes at Longhirst

County Durham-based developers, Dere Street Homes, have released details of the latest homes to be built at their prestigious Longhirst Hall development, located just to the north of Morpeth.

Just five, luxury five bedroom homes are to be built at Micklewood on the elegant Longhirst Estate, dating back to 1828 when the Lawson family commissioned John Dobson to build their country residence – the same architect who designed Newcastle’s famous Grey Street and some of the region’s most elegant buildings. The original hall has been described as John Dobson’s finest classical design and after passing through the hands of some of the area’s most affluent families, the Grade II listed Hall was eventually converted into a hotel which was hugely popular as a wedding venue.

The new homes, designed for modern families, will be officially launched at the end of July with prices ranging from £545,000 to £595,000 for the two different designs of five bedroom detached homes.

While both designs feature large open plan kitchen/family rooms and a separate living room, the larger Alnwick design has an additional separate dining room and study with an adjacent double garage. The Berwick design has an integral single garage, accessed from the utility room with both designs enjoying a central stairwell accessing the five first floor bedrooms which include en-suite facilities to the spacious master bedroom and bedroom two.

Dere Street Homes’ Development Sales Manager, Yvonne Wilson, commented, “Although we won’t be releasing these five new homes for sale until the end of month, the interest in them has been immense so we’re asking all potential buyers to register their interest for these or other designs at Longhirst. We’re receiving a lot of visitors to our townhouse showhome but there’s also been considerable interest in both the apartments and these large detached family homes.”

“The location here is stunning, surrounded by the parkland and mature woodland of the Hall and surrounded by open fields and the leisure facilities of the Longhirst Golf Club. Two of the nine townhouses sold very quickly to cash buyers with the high levels of interest in the others looking very positive. We also have the unique Coach House just released for sale – a wonderful two bedroomed renovation of an original John Dobson building – and will be releasing the first phase of apartments for sale next year, so there really is something for everyone at the development!”

“Located off the B1337 road, just a few minutes away from Pegswood and the main roundabout linking the new Bypass to Ashington and beyond, Longhirst is close enough to links to the new road to make commuting from here into Newcastle and beyond very easy, whilst being far enough away to retain its truly rural setting.”

Full details are available from Yvonne Wilson, Development Sales Manager, Thursday to Monday 10.00am to 5.00pm on 01670 791825.
